I managed to make another card today and I based this on the sketch from Friday Sketchers and the letter f for fairies for ABC Challenge. Hope you like it.

Tilda & Co Challenge 34 Embossing

As I got my first two magnolia stamps on Friday I thought that I would have a go at the challenge over on Tilda & Co. The challenge this week on Tilda & Co is to have fun embossing. It could be heat set embossing, dry embossing, embossing boards, embossing folders, etc ... So this is what I came up with. Hope you like it.

Over at Cute Card Thursday the challenge there is to make a card using bright colours. So I thought that I would combine the all three. This is what I came up with. Hope you like it.

It's A Sad Day Today

Today would have been my mum's 64th birthday. Unfortunatley she passed away 11th December 2007. She was always a healthy person, hardly ever caught a cold. In August 2007 that all drastically changed. My mum started complaining of pains in her side, loss of apetite and losing weight. In October 2007 she was diagnosed with secondary liver cancer and was very very aggressive. They couldn't do anything for her accept keep her comfortable with morphine. In the last week she was alive she was able to come home and myself and her 3 sisters cared for her. I still have to go through her clothes but I still find it very hard to do. Maybe I'll get strength to do it sometime soon. We will go out somewhere for lunch later with the kids and my dad to take our minds off it for awhile. I don't think I'll go to her grave as that is also something I find very hard.

Well happy birthday mum hope you have a lovely day wherever you are.

Just a quick update - The day wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We all went to Killarney and had lunch there in a fab place called Mac's. Then we went to a craft shop that opened a few months ago and I did a bit of retail therapy. My dad was in good form and the kids kept us occupied. The sun also decided to come out today which helped lighten the mood. I didn't go to the grave but yesterday my DH bought gorgeous flowers and put them on her grave for me. I know my mum will understand as she knew I was never one for visiting graves and she was a bit the same as well. So all in all it didn't turn out too bad. My dad bought us a digital photoframe for our anniversary so I will upload some photos of mum on there in the next few days.

My Mad Daughter Caitlin

Just had to share this photo of my daughter Caitlin. She was sitting in her chair looking at a book with those toy glasses on and I quickly got the camera to take a photo. But when she saw me with the camera she started getting off the chair saying cheese. She's a right character :):)

Friday Sketchers - Sketch Number 15

The challenge over at Friday Sketchers this week is one of Mumur fabulous sketches, and here is my take on it. I had to make an anniversary card for my DH and thought that I would use this sketch. Hope you like it.

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Button It

Over on Papertake Weekly this week's challenge is to use a button or buttons on your project! If you don't have any buttons you could try drawing one freehand, making one with chipboard etc!. I've made this card for my aunt & uncles 40th wedding anniversary and used the same sketch as last week challenge and added a couple of buttons. These were taken from my daughters cardigan that was too small for her - HONEST :). Hope you like it.
